Position: Senior Vehicle Body Builder

We are now seeking Vehicle Body Builders to join our Heavy Vehicle team on a full time basis, and are particularly interested in hearing from those who see leadership in their future and would like to quickly progress to Senior positions.

About the role
This is a varied role that is crucial to the success of our operations, responsible for constructing, modifying, and repairing the bodies of heavy vehicles in line with stringent safety standards and customer specifications. The role will include:
- Build and assemble heavy vehicle bodies, including truck bodies and parts, subframes and assemblies following detailed specifications and drawings.
- Fit and secure subframes, trays, body accessories, and other structural elements, including cranes
- Perform cutting, shaping, and welding of metals and other materials to create vehicle bodies, using hand tools and power tools
- Diagnose structural issues and perform necessary repairs, ensuring optimal functionality and appearance
- Customise and modify vehicle bodies to meet specific client requirements
- Inspect completed vehicle bodies to ensure they meet quality and safety standards
In addition, the Senior Vehicle Body Builders will:
- Provide daily supervision and guidance to Vehicle Body Builders and apprentices
- Mentor and train apprentices, helping them develop skills and knowledge in vehicle body building
- Oversee the quality of work performed by team members, providing feedback and support
- Assist in planning and coordinating vehicle body construction projects
- Monitor project progress and ensure deadlines are met
- Collaborate with Team Leaders to address any issues or delays in the project timeline
About you
We’re seeking high performers who are looking to advance their careers and develop their leadership skills to take the next step. The ideal candidate will ideally have:
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in welding, fabrication, or automotive body building (preferred)
- Proven experience as a vehicle body builder, particularly in the heavy vehicle industry
- Strong knowledge of vehicle body construction, repair, and customisation
- Ability to read and interpret plans, technical drawings, and specifications
- Skilled in using various hand and power tools associated with vehicle body building
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Strong desire to extend your skills and advance your career
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials and equipment, and capable of working in various physical positions and in different environmental conditions, such as noise, dust, and varying temperatures
- Able to successfully pass a pre-employment medical and provide a current satisfactory National Police Clearance
